There has been a thought wriggling around in the back of my skull of late. The more I tried to tease it out, the more elusive it was. It would half form and then I would get distracted and forget about it. Then tonight at the club meeting I finally realized it. Paterson is begging for a super D race.
Nothing fancy, just 5 runs down the hill and keep your fastest. Self shuttle to the top – if you have a 4×4 ute, then take a few people up with you, otherwise you can ride to the top, admire the view and then race back to the bottom. Possibly seed riders based on their first couple of times to provide some drama on their last runs to see who will go fastest.
An event centre with some music, a bbq and good vibes. It was so simple, why didn’t I think of this earlier.

I was beginning to think you would never think of this. Provide shuttles and limit the amount of travel (5″ keeps the Reign riders out and most 6″AM bikes for that matter).
If we were to provide shuttles it would get $$$$ i.e how the hell do you get a shuttle trailer up those hills? I think it should be open to all travel bikes. You can’t pedal 6 inch bike as quickly as a hardtail so it doesn’t really advantage any bikes.
Ron looked at his data from the weekend and the descent is nearly 10 minutes long so it would be worth the trip.
Yeah but a 6″ travel bike will descend alot quicker than a HT XC bike, surely there is some advantage in that. Granted the HT XC will have some gain on the flat pedally bit.

I could ask a favour from the boys in the Westpac chopper. The 412 would hold four bikes and riders easily.
